Residential and Study Days

We attend two 3-day residential courses per year (in Swanage and Osmotherley) and a non-residential away-day (in Hitchin).

The focus of the away day in Hitchin is developing more advanced communication skills, with preparation for the college examinations in mind. We role play and analyse face-to-face and telephone consultations with actors. 

On our residentials we cover a broad programme of topics that varies each time. Amongst these we usually discuss how to develop GP skills and address the challenges (and rewarding experiences!) of becoming and practising as a GP. The residentials also help enormously with building valuable supportive peer networks, and our trainees often keep in contact with one another well beyond their training.
